“Read, read, read.”
It’s some of the most helpful advice for writers, quite honestly, but also some of the most trite and annoying to receive. Would-be writers are readers. That’s why they (we) write. On the other hand, you can never have too many good books pointed out to you, and it may well be that what you think of what you read, probably tells people a little about what kind of writer you are.
So here’s my experiment: I’ll post updates on what I’m reading in my blog (with helpful blurbs and links here, so you won’t have to hunt). We’ll see if and how my reading informs my writing, and you’ll get some decent book tips in the meantime. Here’s the latest:

Just wanted to let you know that you can make any post a “sticky,” so that it stays at the top of your blog. This could be helpful for blog entries like the ones about what you’re reading.
When you’re making a post, or editing one, there’s an “Edit” link at the top-right, in the “Publish” section of the sidebar, next to the “Visibility” feature. That’ll make sense when you get there.
Anyway, you can make a post sticky by editing that feature.
